​Master’s Program in Cybercrime and Digital Forensics

Cybercrimes are increasingly on the rise, with evolving patterns and methods of execution, resulting in mounting losses. This surge is closely tied to the rapid pace of technological advancement and the resulting broad digital transformation, accompanied by a significant increase in the number of internet and technology users.

In alignment with the university’s mission as a regional Arab institution dedicated to the preparation, qualification, and skill development of specialized professionals in security sciences, the Master’s Program in Cybercrime and Digital Forensics is offered to contribute to the advancement and empowerment of professionals in the field.

The program aims to enhance competencies in cybercrime and digital forensics, providing advanced skills in identifying, classifying, and analyzing various types of digital evidence. It also supports effective processes for securing, investigating, and interpreting such evidence. Moreover, the program equips students with the ability to develop and apply a systematic process for investigating cyber violations to uncover digital evidence.

The program offers applicants a choice between two modern specializations:

  • Digital Forensics in Mobile Devices

  • Digital Forensics in Networks and Emerging Technologies, including Smart Cities and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).



1 Special Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A valid IELTS score or an equivalent standardized English language test.

  • Passing a personal interview.​


Graduation Requirements

Successful completion of all required credit hours in the program with a cumulative GPA of no less than 3.75 out of 5, within the specified timeframe for degree completion.​

Program Classification

  • Classified under the Unified Saudi Classification of Occupations – Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

  • Aligned with the Saudi Cybersecurity Higher Education Framework (Cyber-Education).




2 Program Goals

  • Digital forensics, examining forensic evidence on mobile devices.
  • Reducing, combating and investigating cybercrime by deepening their knowledge and skills in the areas of responding to cyber incidents.
  • Preparing expertise and qualified cadres capable of contributing to achieving security and justice; and cybersecurity

3 Learning outcomes expected from the programme

  • Prepare specialized scientific research in the fields of digital forensic investigation in advanced cybercrime and innovative projects to develop digital forensic investigation products and services, and provide consultancy in this field.
  • Compare the stages of criminal procedures.
  • Apply advanced and multiple technical skills in digital forensic investigations and critical thinking methods to help solve complex cybercrime cases.
  • Share concepts and technical applications related to cybersecurity and effectively explain the relevant techniques, methodologies, conclusions, and processes to targeted specialists and non-specialists.
  • Apply investigative skills related to digital forensics, including preventing cybercrimes, incidents, detection, and analysis.
  • Apply the theories, processes, and professional practices related to digital forensic analysis and cybercrime investigation processes.
  • Connect the psychological and investigative aspects and the technical aspects of cybercrime.
  • Recognize the similarities and differences between advanced knowledge and understanding of trends and developments in the field of digital forensic investigation in cybercrime, digital forensics, and investigations in cybercrime.
