Naif Arab University for Security Sciences “NAUSS”, the scientific body of the Arab Interior Ministers Council “AIMC”, conducted a series of scientific activities in 2024, including 45 activities comprising conferences, forums, scientific symposia, workshops, and training courses and programs. These activities focused on security priority areas, reaffirming NAUSS commitment to implementing Arab security strategies and plans. NAUSS collaborated with 38 specialized entities, including security and judicial organizations at both the Arab and international levels, engaging 4,763 experts and specialists representing 69 countries.
NAUSS Vice President for External Relations, Mr. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Alharfash, stated that these scientific activities reflect NAUSS dedication to enhancing comprehensive security. They align with the aspirations of the Arab Interior Ministers and affiliates of security and judicial institutions in Arab countries, in accordance with NAUSS strategic plan approved by its Supreme Council. He emphasized NAUSS vision of becoming the leading institution in preparing Arab leaders and experts in various security fields and sectors.
For achieving this goal, NAUSS launched its 2024 annual work program, based on recommendations and security plans approved by the AIMC. Key strategies include the Arab Strategy for Traffic Safety, the Arab Strategy for Civil Protection and Civil Defense, the Arab Strategy for Combating Illicit Drug and Psychotropic Substance Use, the Arab Media Plan for Security Awareness and Crime Prevention, the Arab Strategy for Combating Terrorism, and the Arab Strategy for Addressing Cybercrimes. This annual work program addresses both immediate and future needs of Arab security institutions and includes activities that are conducted outside NAUSS work program in collaboration with regional and international organizations as part of its strategic partnerships.
Mr. Alharfash also noted that as part of the 2024 work program, NAUSS implemented 206 training programs and courses across 13 specialized fields, reinforcing its leadership in security training. These programs and courses benefited 3,085 participants from Arab countries, supporting security strategies and strengthening security capabilities in line with the highest global standards.
Additionally, 259 postgraduate students from seven countries graduated this year through 13 academic programs, including master’s degrees and higher diplomas in various emerging legal and security disciplines. This effort is part of NAUSS mission to prepare qualified personnel and Arab experts to meet Arab needs in high priority fields.
Furthermore, NAUSS published 72 scientific publications in accordance with its research priorities, as outlined in its strategy. These publications were produced in response to the directions of the AIMC and to support decision-making in security institutions. They include studies, research, policy papers, and security-related books on various security and judicial sciences. Peer-reviewed journals were also issued as part of NAUSS efforts to establish its position as a leading reference in security research.
