Dr. Ahmed Saad Hussein Omar serves as an Associate Professor of Radiological and Nuclear Physics at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. He joined the university in 2012 as an Assistant Professor before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics, specializing in Radiological and Nuclear Physics (2003), a Master's degree in Nuclear Physics (1995), and a Bachelor's degree in Physics (1982). He previously worked as a lecturer in general physics and engineering materials courses at the Higher Institute of Electricity in Libya (1983-1995) and taught on a cooperative basis in the Department of Nuclear Engineering at Alexandria University (2008-2012).
Dr. Omar has extensive professional experience in nuclear plant security and safety, having held several executive positions at the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority between 2000 and 2012, including Head of Section, Director of Department, and Director General in the General Administration for Radiation Protection and Environmental Safety. He is a member of the National Radiation Physics Network at the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority and has served on several technical committees for the security and safety of nuclear plant sites. Since joining the university, he has also participated in its scientific conference committees and in academic quality committees for the Departments of Police Sciences, Security Studies, and National Security.
Throughout his career, he has completed numerous specialized training courses in nuclear plant security and safety and crisis management, including a course on managing environmental radiological laboratories in Romania (2005), the International School of Nuclear Security organized by the IAEA and ICTP in Italy (2012), and the International Nuclear Security School for Arabic-speaking countries in Cairo (2016). His research interests focus on radiological and nuclear physics, nuclear plant security and safety, radiological and nuclear security, energy security, and counterterrorism, and he has published numerous scientific papers in these fields.
