Brief Biography

Dr. Liu is a professor at NAUSS specializing in phenotypic characterization of DNA in forensic medicine, molecular epidemiology, and the genetics of human physical appearance. His research includes developing molecular models to predict various human physical appearance traits such as eye color, hair color, skin color, adult height, male baldness, curly hair, facial shape, descent, and age. The models developed by Dr. Liu have been used to predict human pigmentation traits in forensic applications in several countries, and his individual age inference model has been utilized in forensic applications in China. Dr. Liu has an extensive publication record with over 100 research papers in spinal cord injury journals, receiving more than two thousand citations. He has published over 40 research papers on principal authors in renowned journals like Nat Genet, Am J Hum Genet, Curr Bio, eLife, PLoS Genet, Hum Mol Genet, Hum Genet, and Forensic Sci Int Genet. Several of his papers, namely eight, have gained international media attention. Dr. Liu has cumulatively received over two million US dollars in research funding from international funding agencies.
