Dr Idris holds a PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry from Osmania university, India, and a Master of science degree in Forensic Sciences from Osmania university, India. He has over 12 years of experience in Forensic Science in different forensic laboratories and academia. Before joining NAUSS (Naif Arab University for Security Sciences) he worked for Sharjah Police Forensic Science Laboratory, United Arab Emirates as Forensic Toxicology Expert. He is an accomplished forensic scientist whose expertise expands in forensic chemistry and forensic toxicology. He has published several research articles in the reputed journals on related topics. During his attachment with Sharjah Police Forensic Laboratory, he was supervising the activities of Forensic Toxicology section from screening to confirmatory analysis for drug of abuse, driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), postmortem toxicology cases. He has hands on experience on Enzyme multiplied immunoassay technique (EMIT), Solid phase extraction (SPE), Liquid liquid extraction (LLE), Supported liquid extraction (SLE), High performance liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography-Flame ionization detector (GC-FID), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LCMSMS) etc. He has experience of visiting scene of crimes related to Clandestine preparation, poisonous gas related death and drug overdose death. Dr Idris was recognized as an expert witness in the field of forensic toxicology and appeared on several occasions in Sharjah courts in this capacity. He was also Co-Supervising master's degree student from different universities of United Arab Emirates. At NAUSS he is involved in preparation of Quality management manual, Procedure manuals for toxicology, Health, Safety manual and several other policies of Forensic Science Laboratories. He is also involved in teaching theory and practical courses in forensic toxicology, Drug and Alcohol Analysis and Forensic Chemistry for Master of Science in Forensic Sciences students. He is the member of PhD regulation committee and Capstone Project Coordinator for Department of Forensic Sciences. He is also a full-time member for the international renowned societies like the international association of forensic toxicologist (TIAFT), Chartered society of forensic sciences (CSFS), European workplace drug testing society (EWDTS) and Arab society for forensic science and forensic medicine (ASFSFM). ​
