Master’s Program in National Security

Program Overview

The Master's Program in National Security is one of the academic programs offered by the Department of National Security within the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. The program aims to develop academically and professionally qualified security leaders who possess the capacity to analyze contemporary and emerging security challenges, formulate evidence-based security policies, and contribute to the enhancement of security and stability across Arab states. The program adopts a multidisciplinary academic approach that integrates security studies, public policy, strategic studies, international relations, and risk and crisis management. This interdisciplinary framework provides students with a comprehensive understanding of national security concepts and their various dimensions, while strengthening their ability to address complex security issues in professional environments. Furthermore, the program places particular emphasis on developing students' analytical and research capabilities through a stimulating academic environment, specialized coursework, and applied research that supports decision-makers and advances security practices across the Arab world.

Program Mission

To develop the academic and research capabilities of leaders in the security sectors of the Arab states, and to enable them to analyze strategies and formulate evidence-based security policies for addressing contemporary and future security challenges. This is achieved through high-quality education, specialized applied research, and a stimulating academic environment, within a framework of professional commitment, integrity, transparency, equality, and Arab identity—thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable security and stability in Arab society.

1 Special Admission Requirements:

Holding a bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: security sciences, military sciences, strategic sciences, political sciences, international relations, law, computer science and its branches, or any field deemed by the admissions committee to be closely related to national security.
A minimum of three years of practical experience.
Successful completion of a personal interview.

Graduation Requirements

Successfully completing the required program hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 out of 5.00 within the specified timeframe necessary to fulfill the requirements for obtaining the academic degree.

• Develop and update the curriculum in accordance with national and international quality assurance and academic accreditation standards, while adopting assessment methods that reflect the achievement of the program's learning outcomes.
• Strengthen the applied research system and ensure the adequacy and diversity of faculty members in a manner that supports the quality of educational and research outcomes.

K2 Explains security issues and challenges, theoretical legal and regulatory frameworks, and scientific methodologies in the fields of national security at local, regional, and international levels.
K3 Classifies applied research methods and policy analysis techniques in the field of national security.
Second: Skills
S1 Analyzes issues and policies pertaining to national security from multiple perspectives to produce professional reports and presentations directed at a diverse audience of stakeholders.
S2 Employs data and information, foresight tools, artificial intelligence and digital analytics tools, and intelligent decision-support systems in analyzing security scenarios, assessing future threats, and building strategic alternatives.

S3 Designs innovative solutions for diverse security situations within the fields of national security.
S4 Conducts applied research in the fields of national security to develop practical alternatives that support decision-making.

V1 Adheres to standards of integrity, transparency, professional responsibility, and Arab identity in security practices and policies.
